Private Yoga Therapy

leads you back to You

Can you see in yourself any of the below?

  • You have pelvic floor concerns like incontinence or pelvic pain (hypotonicity or hypertonicity) and want a complementary whole-person approach to relearn about your body and lifestyle, one that is complementary to what your doctor of physical therapist says

  • You have heard that yoga would be "good for you" but aren't sure how to get started and you aren't interested in group classes

  • You have trouble sleeping due to stress or anxiety

  • You feel stuck, frozen, or as if you are spinning wheels

  • You experience chronic pain and would like to see how yoga could help

  • You're feeling burnt out

  • You experience overwhelm, stress and anxiety, or even panic attacks, that affect daily living

  • You fall into people pleasing and want to practice setting better boundaries

  • You are interested in a different way to think about nutrition (this works well while checking with your dietician, nutritionist, or mental health professional)

  • You want to reassess your values and priorities, and shift your lifestyle to match them

  • You simply want to get to know and understand yourself better and focus on self-development

  • You're adjusting to a “new normal” after a big life change like recovering from an injury, illness or surgery (with your doctor’s permission); a change in family status or role; a job change; you just moved to the area; or retirement wasn’t what you expected

“An anxious mind cannot exist in a relaxed body.”

—Edmund Jacobson, MD

People often come to Yoga Therapy as a last resort, when they have turned everywhere else and not found quite the right solution. While Yoga Therapy does not offer diagnoses, cures, or quick fixes, yoga is a creative, integrative process focusing on living better, taking action on your own behalf toward health and making different choices based on your new self-understanding. Yoga Therapy aims to set you up with different perspectives, tools, and lifestyle changes so you can handle things that come your way with a steadier mind and body.

Yoga Therapy can happen at the same time you receive care from your doctor, mental health therapist, or physical therapist.

Yoga Therapy leads you back to You.

“I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.”

Louisa May Alcott

In contrast to a large group class where there may be little time for personalized attention, Yoga Therapy sessions are private and tailored to YOU and go beyond the physical postures. Yoga Therapy takes the awareness and honesty you build with yourself on the mat, OFF the mat into the rest of your life. Sessions are a collaboration where your willingness and curiosity meet Dawn’s knowledge and guidance. Together we explore practical applications to move you toward your intention.

Yoga Therapy aims to connect all of aspects of you and your life (body, mind, breath, spirit, work/job, relationships, and nutrition), deepen self-understanding, give you tools to become more resilient in life’s situations, and realize healing and contentment no matter what you might be going through. Sessions include exploring a wide range of yoga tools and personalized practices that will help you learn (or remember) how to tap into your own wisdom and use it to participate in your own life and empower change, self-regulation, and self-ownership.

What are some Yoga Therapy tools? Education, assessments, self-inquiry, building awareness of the body-mind connection, movement & adaptable yoga poses, identifying and creating different lifestyle habits, breathing, relaxation, journaling, visualization, meditation or mind-calming activities, and considering yoga frameworks and concepts like respect, honesty, contentment, and moderation as “guiderails” to live well.

Comprehensive Yoga Therapy is a non-prescriptive path of yoga and wellness, and is complementary to professional care and all personal beliefs. Yoga Therapy does not diagnose or take the place of other professional medical, physical, or mental care.

"Dawn, I wanted to thank you for the guidance and time you gave me over the past several weeks. I am doing so much better, feeling more comfortable in my body. The home practice still is not as intentional as I am aiming for, but I am incorporating things into my daily routine. A 'stronger' focus is also happening, so that's progress!"
